Retail and consumer demand have increased since schools reopened and the holiday season ended. Early season Rooster continues to be harvested, with mixed reports on yields, and some areas quoting below average. There are also continued reports of cracking on the lifted Rooster.
Processing demand remains entirely contract-based, with almost no interest beyond contracted volumes. The early crop is nearing its end, and buyers are taking in more Innovator and Fontane. Recent rainfall has improved lifting conditions, although some areas are still considered too dry to lift due to concerns over bruising.
Free buy demand for white varieties has been reasonable to good, but packers for the main multiples have a high percentage of demand already covered by contracts this year.
