Kyrgyz farmers to export sweet peppers to Russia and Kazakhstan

In the village of Jaiylgan, Manas district, farmers are preparing to harvest "Lastochka" sweet peppers. The crop is grown on 5 hectares, with each plant producing 4–5 peppers. The expected harvest is around 120 tonnes.

Seedlings were planted in February under the government-supported "3+2" project. The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry provides technical support throughout the growing season.

Currently, peppers are selling for 40–60 Kyrgyz soms (€0.42–0.63) per kilogram.

Part of the harvest will be sold on the local market, and part will be exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, and other neighboring countries. The peppers are grown using organic methods, and certification for export is in progress. The harvest also creates seasonal jobs for local residents.
