Hungary provides aid to producers affected by severe spring frost

The Hungarian government has announced financial support for grape and fruit growers affected by this year's severe spring frost. A total of HUF 1.44 billion (around €3.62 million) is being distributed to eligible producers to help maintain liquidity and cover losses.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 1,584 applications for compensation met the eligibility criteria. The Hungarian State Treasury has begun notifying beneficiaries and transferring advance payments.

The ministry noted that these advance payments will be deducted from the final 2025 compensation, so recipients must submit their applications on time and pay the required contributions. Failure to do so will result in the loss of eligibility and the need to return the advance payment.

Remaining compensation for spring frost damage will be paid through the usual procedure in March 2026.
