Apple, cherry and strawberry prices rise while plum prices fall

Apple, cherry, plum, and strawberry prices recorded mixed movements this week when compared to the previous reporting period. The data shows both upward and downward shifts in average prices, highlighting contrasting developments across the fruit categories.

Apples, specifically Bramley's Seedling, rose from a previous week's average of £1.25 per kilo to £1.49 per kilo, marking an increase of £0.24. This reflects a 19% change over the period. By contrast, no other apple varieties listed recorded changes between the two weeks.

Cherries also moved upward in price. The previous week's average of £5.60 per kilo increased to £6.29 per kilo. This equates to a rise of £0.69 or 12%. In contrast, plums under the "all other" category showed a decline. Their average dropped from £3.11 per kilo in the previous week to £2.28 per kilo, representing a fall of £0.83 or 27%.

Strawberries also increased in value. The average price rose from £3.95 per kilo to £4.99 per kilo. This is a weekly rise of £1.04, translating into a 26% increase. Overall, while apples, cherries, and strawberries strengthened in price, plums under "all other" experienced a downward shift.
