Pinghe County in Fujian Province remains China's core production region for pomelos. Thanks to favorable weather conditions this year, growers are expecting a bumper harvest. A small volume of early varieties has already entered the market, with large-scale harvesting and shipments set to begin in August.

"Thanks to the stable climate, this year's pomelo yield has increased significantly, and overall quality is better than in previous years," said Mr. Lai from Fujian Xiangxinglong Fruits and Vegetables, a company engaged in pomelo cultivation and processing. "Production from our own orchards is up by around 35%. As a result, the initial market price is about 15%–20% lower than the same period in previous years, and export prices have also been adjusted downward accordingly."

"In terms of fruit grading, this season has seen a smaller proportion of large pomelos and a higher volume of small to medium-sized fruit—sizes that are better suited to export market demand."

Fujian Xiangxinglong Fruits and Vegetables has many years of export experience. Mr. Lai noted that overseas demand for pomelos has steadily grown in recent years. "Customer inquiries are increasing. This season's fruit combines favorable pricing with excellent quality, so we're optimistic about the sales outlook and fully prepared for the upcoming export season."
