Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has announced the establishment of a fully-owned subsidiary in Colombia, expanding its operational footprint in the Americas. The move follows the company's acquisition earlier this year of its perishables partner, HPL Apollo, including its Colombian operations.
While Hellmann has operated in Colombia for nearly 30 years through local partners, the formation of a direct subsidiary marks a strategic step in the company's regional development. The new entity will provide logistics services including general cargo handling, airfreight, seafreight, customs brokerage, and contract logistics. An experienced team will support operations in the country, aiming to improve connectivity between North and South American markets and global supply chains.
Jens Drewes, CEO of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, noted that the integration of Colombian operations aligns with the company's broader growth strategy across the Americas. Peter Huwel, Regional CEO for the Americas, added that the transition from a long-standing local partnership with ABC Cargo Logistics S.A.S. to an owned subsidiary strengthens the company's operational capacity in the region.
The establishment of the Colombian office builds on Hellmann's ongoing efforts to enhance its logistics network in Latin America, reflecting a focus on improving trade flows and operational efficiency in the region.
