Farmers from ten associations in Vojvodina and central Serbia are requesting a one-time aid of 300 euros per hectare for spring crops and fruit plantations registered in the e-agrarian system. If denied, they plan to protest in August.
During a meeting in Stajicevo, Banat, the Vice President of the Initiative for the Survival of Serbian Farmers, Dejan Ivanisevic, discussed expectations for state adoption of a decree by August 1. This includes a public call for registration of spring crops like corn, soybeans, sunflowers, sugar beets, and various fruits. The group demands payment of all unpaid subsidies and premiums by the same date.
Another conclusion calls for the exemption of diesel fuel from the full excise duty by January 1, 2026, impacting agricultural products at gas stations. Currently, the agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture allows for a refund of 50 dinars per liter within 14 days, yet the process extends three to four times longer.
For crop recovery, farmers request state-provided loans with one percent interest to refinance earlier loans, citing crop and fruit yield losses due to drought.
The president of the Initiative, Goran Filipović, commented on the essential nature of this aid to counter losses: "The frost has destroyed the fruit, and the catastrophic drought, not only the corn and other crops, but there will be no bulk food for the preparation of silage, nor hay for cattle and sheep," Filipović said.
