Brazil's fruit exports reached $1.38 billion in 2024, with over one million tons of fresh and processed produce exported globally. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is focused on enhancing the international market presence of Brazilian agricultural products. Minister Carlos Fávaro remarked on the "important day for the fruit sector" during the announcement of the 2025/2026 Harvest Plan, which aims to provide additional resources and financing opportunities for fruit growers.
Mangoes topped the list of Brazil's exports, with sales exceeding $350 million in 2024. The European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom were key markets. By May 2025, mango exports had already surpassed $80 million, with shipments totaling 73.6 thousand tons, primarily to the European Union. The Northeast region, particularly Pernambuco and Bahia, leads in fruit exports.
In addition to mangoes, Brazil exports grapes, lemons, and limes, along with processed fruit products. On the import front, apples, pears, and kiwis are prevalent. The Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas) notes that the temperate climate of the Southeast and southern regions facilitates the production of various fruits, including grapes, pears, apples, peaches, and blueberries.
