Dinajpur banana and variety mangoes sail to Europe

Mango exports from Dinajpur have kicked off this season, with shipments of banana-variety mangoes now reaching several European and Middle Eastern countries. The first consignment of 100 kilograms was recently dispatched, with several more metric tons scheduled for export in phases.

The mangoes, cultivated organically on multi-acre orchards in the region, have drawn praise for their vibrant colour, shape, and flavour. Growers in the area have expanded operations significantly in recent years, with thousands of trees now producing a wide range of high-demand varieties. Each tree is currently yielding 100 to 250 fruits, and demand has steadily increased locally and abroad.

The fruit is being sold directly from orchards at prices around $1.10 to $1.20 per kilogram, with buyers citing both taste and cleanliness as key attractions. The growth of mango exports follows previous successful trials that introduced local varieties to international markets.

Agriculture officials note that Dinajpur's reputation as a fruit-growing hub continues to rise, thanks to improvements in cultivation methods and export coordination. With further shipments expected, the district is poised to strengthen its presence in global fruit markets.
