Mixed trends in Kazakhstan's berry imports: Strawberries down, currants up

From January to April 2025, Kazakhstan imported 24.6 tons of raspberries and blackberries, costing about $567,000. The main supplier was the Netherlands with 16.1 tons, followed by Morocco (3.9 tons), China (2.6 tons), and Mexico (1 ton).

Imports of currants and gooseberries grew 2.2 times to 18.5 tons, mostly from China (12.8 tons) and the Netherlands (4.8 tons).

Meanwhile, imports of cranberries, blueberries, and lingonberries decreased by 13.3%, totaling 47.4 tons. Leading exporters were China (23.4 tons), the Netherlands (8.8 tons), and Russia (10.7 tons).

Strawberry and wild strawberry imports decreased by 14.6%, totalling 1,500 tons. Egypt remained the largest supplier with 1,000 tons. Imports from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Greece, Russia, China, and the Netherlands declined, but shipments from Turkmenistan (41.2 tons) and Uzbekistan (22.9 tons) increased significantly.

Kazakhstan exported 40.3 tons of strawberries and wild strawberries, which is 2.4 times less than last year, primarily to Russia (37.1 tons). Small quantities also went to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Raspberry and blackberry exports were minimal, with only 100 kg sent to Kyrgyzstan.
