Following its highly successful premiere in 2024, the Association of South German Asparagus and Strawberry Growers (VSSE) is hosting the second Stone Fruit Forum as part of the expoSE trade fair with VSSE board member Dominic Ell, berry and stone fruit producer from Beerenhof Ell in Oberkirch, and co-organizer Herbert Knuppen.
2nd Stone Fruit Forum:
- on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- in Conference Room 4/5 at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Center
Peter Hilsendegen, Fruit Growing Advisory and Research Department, Department of Horticulture, Dienstleistungszentrum Ländlicher Raum (DLR) Rheinpfalz, will present an overview of cherry cultivation systems, comparing their advantages and disadvantages. Cultivation consultant Othmar Eicher will talk about the limitations and possibilities of the Drapeau system. Finally, Alexander Zimmermann, Technology & Business Development, Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture (LWG), will give an overview of the latest findings on the most interesting applications for frost protection.
Trade visitors with a valid trade fair ticket can attend the Stone Fruit Forum for free. No separate registration is required.

"Since many association members market cherries or plums grown specifically for this purpose after the asparagus and strawberry season, we see a need to provide further information on stone fruit at our trade fair," explains Simon Schumacher, spokesperson for the Association of South German Asparagus and Strawberry Growers (VSSE).
To this end, the VSSE is offering a stone fruit information point for the first time as part of the Stone Fruit Forum in the Action Hall (entrance area of the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Center). Here, stone fruit nurseries can present themselves with roll-up banners and flyers. This year, other specialist forums such as the 36th Asparagus Day (in German and English), the 3rd Berry Technology Forum (in German and English), and the Direct Marketers Forum will once again provide additional knowledge transfer, exchange, and networking opportunities.
Following its great success last year, the Direct Marketers Forum will once again take place in Hall 1 at the stand of the direct marketing trade journal "HOF direkt".
