Potato Market Report 7th May:

European potato planting nears completion

Consumption remains unchanged this week. Trends should improve as schools have returned after the Easter break. Planting wise it has been a very good year. Many growers will finish planting in the north east and Donegal by the end of this week. Conditions are reported to be very good.

Across Europe, planting is almost complete but still delayed in some areas by late delivery of seed. Progress in Normandy is the exception and was only 50% complete at the end of last week. In the U.K. it is reported that the warmer weather hasn't helped demand but some buyers still have stocks leftover from the Easter weekend.
