April frosts threaten apricot yield in key Ukrainian regions

April frosts in Ukraine may impact the yield of fruit trees, notably apricots. The Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Zakarpattia regions are predicted to be most affected. Volodymyr Pechko, head of the NGO "Ukrgardenprom," shared insights with a UNN journalist regarding potential crop losses.

"We are still monitoring this situation. Of course, apricots and some berry crops have already blossomed, so there may be a high probability of large losses due to frosts. But such temperature drops are not isolated cases. In principle, there is a pattern that in April and even in May in the 10th there is a high probability of frost in Ukraine," said Pechko.

When asked about the regions most susceptible to frost damage, Pechko noted, "We see that this trend persists throughout Ukraine. Both in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Zakarpattia."

Since April 6, Ukraine has experienced a decline in weather conditions, with sub-zero temperatures recorded at night across the country. Heavy snowfalls have been noted in the western regions, including Volyn, Lviv, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zakarpattia. Residents have actively shared images and videos of snow-covered cities.
