In December 2024, organic carrots cost CHF 2.83/kg (USD 3.15) in conventional retail stores, 15.6 percent cheaper than in December of the previous year. Non-organic carrots saw a much sharper price decline compared to the same month last year (-28.9 percent) and hit a price low of CHF 1.37/kg (USD 1.52). Consequently, the organic price difference rose compared to the same month last year from 74 percent (Dec 2023) to 107 percent (Dec 2024).
Organic kiwis saw a decline in volume and an increase in price
In December 2024, around 145 tons of organic kiwis were sold in Swiss retail stores. This is 12.8% less than in December of the previous year. The price in traditional retail stores (excluding discounters) was CHF 0.91 (USD 1.01) per piece and was thus 10 Rappen (USD 0.11) or 11.7% higher than in the same month last year.
