120 hectares producing 4 million kg for commercialization

Linbo tangerines: the fourth season is about to start

Medium-late Linbo® tangerines will be back on the Italian and European shelves from mid-February. The campaign is looking exceptional, so the consortium is getting ready for a record season and expectations are high.

"Both quality and quantities are looking good and all our three lines - traditional, zero residue and organic - will reach consumers. The latter two together cover 40%, but the objective year after year will be to increase the share of zero residue. We have been working hard in our groves with various technicians to reach our targets," explained consortium president Francesco Paolo Gallo.

The groves are mainly located in Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria. The produce will be distributed by partners Carpe Naturam, Giacovelli, Orchidea Frutta and Zuccarella Cooperativa. Figures are growing. "The consortium welcomed another 11 companies this year, so now it gathers 36 producers in total. We are expecting to reach over 4 million kg this year compared with the 500 thousand kg of 2020, when we launched. The produce is placed in single or double layer crates, punnets and Girsacs, which are then delivered to big retail chains. We also want to increase the share destined to exports."

It is therefore possible to work as a system in the agricultural south of the country. "Linbo is a unique system of independent aggregation in southern Italy and results are good in economic terms as well. As for prices, we are expecting quotations to be better than last year due to the excellent quality and grades."

"There were no damages caused by hail or other weather events. From a phytosanitary point of view, the technical coordination achieved excellent results. All us partners are very happy that our project is becoming a reality and we are positive that we are going in the right direction."
