Due to the presence of the pesticide chlorpyrifos, the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs has banned the import of mandarins from Croatia into Bosnia and Herzegovina. The use of chlorpyrifos is prohibited in agricultural production in the country and the EU.
The importer was ordered to return the disputed shipment to the sender in the country of the exporter, that is, to destroy the shipment if it is not possible to return it so that the mentioned shipment does not pose a risk to the health of consumers in BiH.
A statement read: “The Food Safety Agency monitors potential risks originating from food in our country and the surrounding area, and in cooperation with competent inspection bodies undertakes appropriate measures with the aim of protecting the health and interests of consumers in BiH.”
