Table grapes have been diligently harvested in the Kremers family glasshouse in Heinsberg for about three weeks. "Despite the weather, the harvest has started quite well," said owner Heribert Kremers when asked. "The weather was relatively dark and due to the lack of sunshine hours, the thermals in the greenhouse were correspondingly lacking, which is why there was then sometimes rot at the end."
However, the passionate table grape producer continues, they were spared any major losses in quality. "On the contrary, the qualities of our fruit have been very nice so far. What we are mainly concerned about is the lack of sales, which may be mainly due to the price. Our grapes, which sell for about 3 euros/kg, are in direct competition with imported goods, which are comparatively half the price." The Heinsberg table grapes are marketed mainly to regional customers, especially private buyers and farm stores.

The domestic tropical fruits are usually available until the beginning of October, until then a total of about 3,000 kg of table grapes will be picked, quantifies Kremers, who has been dedicated to the cultivation of the niche crop since 2011. "We are now starting successively with our late varieties Fanny and Muscat bleu, which we can then offer until the end of the season."
