Russian retail chain Magnit recorded an increase in consumer demand for cherry tomatoes

The retail chain "Magnit" has seen an increase in consumer demand for cherry tomatoes. Consumer preferences are shifting towards small, sweet fruits.

Since the beginning of the year, cherry tomato sales in the retailer's stores have increased by 50% compared to the same period last year. In addition, the demand for the company's own-produced cherry tomatoes has more than doubled.

Currently, cherry tomatoes account for 17% of the overall volume of tomatoes grown in "Magnit"'s own greenhouses, and by the end of 2023, their share could grow to 30%. The network's enterprises produce up to 20 varieties of these small fruits.

In 2022, "Magnit"'s greenhouse complexes produced around 30,000 tons of various tomato varieties.
