Carrefour launches Potager City: a new local fresh produce chain

Carrefour has announced the opening of the first two Potager City stores in Paris “to meet the essential needs of city dwellers with an offer of quality fresh produce at the right price. This new local format complements the e-commerce offer of fruit and vegetable basket delivery already implemented by Potager City for 10 years.”

Potager City,  a new format for Carrefour Proximité
“With this new format, Carrefour Proximité wants to give priority to taste thanks to a wide choice of product varieties, as well as ultra-fresh produce and short circuits with direct purchases from producers in transit through Rungis.”

The stores will focus on fruit and vegetables in particular, with an offer of up to 100 products covering more than 50% of the store's surface area, a large proportion of which will be in season to ensure optimum availability. Depending on the store, this offer will be supplemented by a selection of:

- grocery products in partnership with Omie & Cie, a company which promotes sustainable agriculture (up to 170 references)

- wines (about 40 references), in partnership with Le Petit Ballon

- self-service fresh products, such as cheeses, creams, cold cuts, ultra fresh products...(about 230 references)

The Potagers City stores will also be a collection point for fruit and vegetable baskets that can be ordered directly from the company's e-commerce website.

“With this new format, we want to defend the values of sharing, authenticity and pleasure for the local products of many regions. We therefore focus on a careful selection of raw products, always searching for the right producer, the right refiner, the right partner, as well as the right price at the right time. Potager City is very much a ‘spotter of good products’, with a strong belief in terroirs and know-how,” explains Benoît Soury, executive director of Carrefour Proximité France and Marché Bio.
