Casa Morana: the approach to customers is always an enthusiastic one

Sicilian fresh and preserved tomato made the most out of the fair in Berlin

"The main goal is to find new customers or to retain the loyalty of current ones, but also to approach new markets and compare ourselves to potential new competitors," said Giuseppe Morana, owner of 'Casa Morana, on his way back from the Fruit Logistica 2023 fair

"The German event," he adds, "offers the opportunity to keep up-to-date on market trends and, above all, is an important window for direct and constructive dialogue with customers and colleagues in the sector, because it provides a different and exciting approach to our work.

“Especially after the years marked by the pandemic,” continues the entrepreneur, “it was a pleasure to share this event with so many producers and distributors from all over the world. During the fair, we noticed the interest of several foreign countries, especially from Eastern Europe, who were impressed by the high quality of the product. In addition to our fresh tomatoes, the most popular products include our preserves, such as 'Passata Delicata' and 'Rustica', which are used by several of our customers in the Horeca sector; the range of patés and capuliati (chopped dried tomatoes) are also very popular, ideal for the preparation of rustic dishes.

Casa Morana, a Sicilian company, has a great market appeal, thanks to its strategic location in the deep south-east of the island, only 200 meters from the sea, in an area with plenty of sunshine for several months of the year, which facilitates the growing of the crops. Pedoclimatic conditions are at the heart of everything here.

"I deeply believe that, during our talks at the fair, we conveyed how the main focus of our production is the perfect combination of product quality," emphasizes the interviewee, "and extreme attention to environmental sustainability. On the other hand, the perfect balance of these two essential elements is certified. We use natural materials during the production phase, as required by international certifications.”

Three types of fresh tomatoes are produced: pixel (miniplum), cherry and date tomato
"During the summer period, fresh tomatoes are processed and transformed into preserves,' explains Morana, 'using an artisanal method handed down from several generations of our family. In this regard, we are proud of having reached the fourth generation of the Morana family actively working in the company. Currently, the mini plum tomato is one of our best products, even if, due to the presence of numerous similar types, it is experiencing a moment of major inflation on the fresh market.”
