Copa-Cogeca: Geoffroy D'Evry, new president of the “potato” group

On the 20th of October, Georffroy d’Evry, a 51-year-old French farmer of the Oise department, president of the French Union of Potato Producers (UNPT), president of NEPG (North European Potato Growers) and member of CESPU (Committee of the European Starch Potato Processors’ Unions), was elected president of the “potato” group of Copa-Cogeca, the organization representing producers and cooperatives at the European level, for a period of two years.

He takes over the position from Arnaud Delacour, current president of GIPT (French interprofessional organization for potatoes for processing), who chose not to renew his mandate after 6 years at the head of the group.

Copa-Cogeca is a major pivot in the relations between potato producers and European authorities. It covers the seed potato sector, as well as the early and ware potato sectors (fresh and processed).

Geoffroy d’Evry “thanked Arnaud Delacour for his unfailing commitment with Copa” and announced that, “in a context where the European potato production is being shaken by the climate crisis and historical inflation, the sustainability and development of the production will be the only priority, especially regarding the strategic place the crop must occupy for European food sovereignty.”
