Benihort joins the Alcachofa de España association

The Alcachofa de España association (Spanish Artichoke association) has welcomed the Benihort Agricultural Cooperative as a new member in its IX General Assembly, which was held at the Fruit Attraction 2022 fair. Benihort thus joins the association that works to continue giving visibility to the Spanish artichoke, promoting and vindicating the consumption of this vegetable.

The President of Benihort, Sergio Ortiz Bueno, and the Director General of the company, Guillermo Edo Barreda, represented the company at the assembly, which was held on Tuesday, October 4. More than fifty representatives of associates of the Region of Murcia, the Vega Baja of Alicante, Castellon, Andalusia, and Navarre attended the meeting in which the president of the association, Antonio Galindo, welcomed Benihort to the Association.

"We are pleased to join a very dynamic association that works to continue increasing the notoriety of the Spanish artichoke. We produce almost 5 million kilos of high-quality artichoke per year and had to be a part of this association. There is no doubt that these kinds of alliances make us stronger and more competitive," stated Sergio Ortiz.

The agricultural cooperative of Benicarló had already expressed its intention to join the association at the First Congress of the White Artichoke of Tudela, which was organized on the occasion of the Vegetable Festivals in April. After presenting its adhesion, the incorporation became effective in the Madrid assembly.

Upcoming Assemblies
At the request of some partners, the tenth general assembly could be held, for the first time, outside the framework of the Fruit Attraction fair. "We think that holding the assembly on a rotating basis in the five production areas of the country is a very interesting proposal. It would allow us to learn from each other, get to know the particularities and interests of each area and everything that each area can contribute in the dissemination of the product," highlighted the general director of Benihort, Guillermo Edo.
