The harvest of Limoré lemons is in full swing. "A few weeks ago the lemons had an excellent size, but currently they are struggling to reach an acceptable size, due to the unfavorable weather conditions. The temperature is between 15 and 18°C, which, in addition to the total absence of rain for more than 50 days, has forced us to work on streamlining our quantities to guarantee lemons of the right size for the markets. The advantage is that we can extend sales by two weeks and will complete the 2021/22 season no earlier than the end of May," said Pietro Buongiorno, president of the Rocca Imperiale lemon growers' cooperative.

"From a commercial point of view, despite the uncertainty about the pandemic and concerns about the increase in the price of raw materials, the PGI-labelled lemon is gaining popularity in the Italian and European markets. The promotional campaigns carried out with our partner Joinfruit have contributed significantly to this. In terms of packaging, we have expanded our offer to meet the different needs of consumers. The packages currently available are 2- and 4-fruit, in recyclable cardboard boxes of 4 and 7 kg, as well as nets".

"Although Limoré is a well-known brand, in recent days we have unfortunately witnessed some unpleasant episodes. Fraudsters have attempted to clone our brand in order to try to enter some sales channels with a product that, not only was not grown in Rocca Imperiale, but has not even been recognized as PGI. We therefore recommend that operators pay the utmost attention and request the necessary confirmation of orders from the real company. Unlike counterfeit lemons, each pack of Limoré is accompanied by a label which, in addition to the company logo, contains a traceability code that makes it possible to find out the day the lemon was harvested and the company in which it was grown."

"Our cooperative has always stood out for its quality and for taking marketing seriously. This is an ambitious business project that in a short time has allowed dozens of growers to unite to increase their income and above all to define the identity of the Rocca Imperiale PGI lemon, which was previously unknown to national and international buyers."
