Christophe Burgun, Intermarché:

“The objective behind promotional actions is to make the products known, not to sell!”

For the end of the year festivities, Christophe Burgun, department manager at Intermarché, decided to promote citrus fruits. “Exotic fruits are usually the ones in the forefront. But this year, we wanted to make a display of our citrus range, without detracting from the exotic fruits.”

Thus, next to the carefully displayed conventional exotic fruit, the range of citrus products occupied a privileged place in the Intermarché store of Sarreguemines during the last two weeks of December.

The objective of this promotional action was not to increase sales but purely to present a nice display, showing the passion for the profession. “These displays help make known to customers new varieties of citrus fruit such as the chocolate orange or cedrat lemon. With these promotional actions, we want to encourage creativity, distinguish ourselves and please our customers. The goal is not to sell more. For my two assistants, Jérémy and Nicolas, who accompany me daily on these projects, and for myself, it is more about doing a good job. It represents hours of additional work. These displays highlight particularly small volumes. But we bring something that is simple yet different, while focusing on the visual and taste qualities of our products, which is very much appreciated by our customers.”
