Patatas Meléndez has selected Wyma Europe as its main partner to design and build its new potato processing facilities in Valladolid.
"We had a series of key criteria to choose our partner," stated the CEO of Patatas Meléndez, Javier Meléndez. “Our criteria included the quality of the machinery, the safety of the line and the personnel, a very careful handling of the potatoes, the efficiency of the line, and intelligent automation,” he stated.
“It's great to partner with such an innovative and forward-thinking company as Patatas Meléndez,” stated Wyma Europe CEO Jason Gerrie. "The new plant will incorporate the latest technology available in the current market. This will include cutting-edge potato pre-sorting, washing, polishing, and optical sorting solutions to maximize potato yields, an automated box handling and storage system (supplied by Deprez Construct), multiple new packaging lines, and an automation system that will allow Patatas Meléndez to continue its digitization journey.”
Wyma will complete the design, manufacture, and installation of the machinery in the coming months. The plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
The new potato facility will be a key asset in a larger project that will involve the complete digitization of Meléndez's production process.
