Leading EU agri-food producer Poland turns to Indian market

Poland is a significant producer of fruit and vegetables. It is also the EU leader in the production of apples and soft fruit such as sour cherries, raspberries, chokeberries and currants, and one of the leading producers of highbush blueberries and strawberries.

These Polish products are greatly appreciated by domestic as well as foreign consumers. Poland is the leading world exporter of apples (1st producer in the EU and 3rd global producer). Production of apples in 2020 was about 3.4 million tons and the export volume in 2020 was equal to 657,000 tons. Over a half of the export of apples (about 52%) goes to the European Union.

Currently, Poland is carrying out activities related to obtaining a permit from the Indian authorities to export blueberries from Poland to India. Blueberries on the Indian market come mainly from South America (mainly Chile), so the Indian consumer will also be able to discover the advantages of blueberries from Poland.
