Interpera webinar will focus on pear production, trade and consumption

As the 29th of June approaches, the program of the Interpera webinar, the international pear congress, is taking shape. The representatives of the main producing countries will come together to exchange the latest information on the upcoming season, on trade and consumption.

The first part of the webinar will focus on the figures from the 2020 campaign and the pear predictions for the summer of 2021. It will be organized by Afrucat, the fruit company association of Catalonia. Manel Simón, director of Afrucat, declared being “proud to participate and delighted that, since 2009, Interpera continues to provide essential strategic information to pear producers and companies.”

The Interpera sales session will be moderated by Elisa Macchi, director of CSO, the service center of Italian fruit and horticultural companies. She will present data on pear imports and exports in Europe. Her presentation will be followed by a discussion between the participants.

Finally, during the third session, Philippe Binard, general delegate of Freshfel, will reveal the consumption trends. Together with the other participants, he will also discuss the impacts of the sanitary crisis on the European pear market.

Each session will end with an exchange of questions and answers among the participants.

According to Jean-Louis Moulon, vice-president of AREFLH, “this Interpera webinar is essential to strengthen the relationship between the different players of the pear sector, even if, for 2021, it will be a digital event. The producers and players of the pear sector are eager to meet again. AREFLH and the Interpera steering committee are looking forward to welcoming the regular participants in person again at the next edition.”
