Robert Voskamp (Vitaal Europe) about multi-faceted sweet potato market:

"Bar small sizes, shrivelled sweet potato market"

The current sweet potato market is multi-faceted. That's according to Robert Voskamp of Vitaal Europe in the Netherlands.  "We're one of the few that still have Egyptian arrivals. Most have been off the market for a while. At this time of year, the American supply declines somewhat. That's because the quality's slowly deteriorating. And the largest volumes have already been sold. The new harvest from Egypt will take some time. I expect it on the market around August."

"There's good European demand. That's probably partly due to the colder, wetter weather. There's a container shortage, delayed shipments, and various problems in the ports. So, the current market has dried up except for small sizes. The delays should continue. But there'll be some product on the open market in the coming weeks," Robert concludes.
