It may seem like a paradox, but prices are good although quantities sold are limited. This is because there is little Italian produce available so, although demand is not lively maybe also due to the pandemic, prices are satisfactory due to the lack of surplus.
"We proceed regularly as there is little competition and supply and demand are balanced. Quality is good and handling continues. Estimates say the produce will be available until mid-May as expected," explains exporter Maurizio Filippi.

We are talking about green kiwifruit, as golden types have not been available in weeks. Demand exceeds supply for them and sales went very well.
As for green kiwifruit, "Germany remains our main destination followed by Great Britain, though Switzerland, the Netherlands and Spain are also interesting markets. The domestic market maintains its capacity, though the pandemic certainly affected some habits."
As for prices, "large kiwifruit obtain excellent quotations and small ones do not. Nothing new here: the market pays depending on grade, so technical-agronomic solutions are needed to increase the percentage of large fruits on the trees."
Although average prices are good, it does not mean producers make a profit. "Those who obtained good yields are satisfied however, if quantities are little, it is difficult to obtain a truly satisfactory gross saleable production."
