Piet Pannekeet grew up in a family of entrepreneurs; his grandfather was a livestock farmer and greengrocer who opened a supermarket, his father started a vegetable cutting business. The entrepreneurial blood didn't bypass Piet: over 36 years, Piet cultivated his company -JASA Packaging Solutions- into a flourishing, internationally leading company.
1985: the year Piet founded his company
His father is always busy in the vegetable cutting shop, and from an early age on, Piet loves to be involved in it. It turns out that Piet's heart goes out to the technique of vegetable cutting. He is inventive and likes to come up with all kinds of solutions for different situations. Being an entrepreneur at heart, he starts his own company in 1985: Pannekeet Machine Techniek (PMT). Soon the company runs like a well-oiled machine. Piet maintains good and often personal relationships with his customers, something he finds very important. He believes that in a good business relationship, you should be able to talk about more than just work-related issues.
PMT turns into JASA
With the international growth of PMT, Piet changed the name PMT to JASA in 2005, a name easier to pronounce for many international customers. JASA is a family business; this is reflected in the name that originates from Piet's children's names: Jarno and Sandra. Many people don't know that Piet dubbed the first vertical packaging machine he built 'JASA'. Because of this, distributors already called the company JASA.

Best-known packaging director in the Dutch produce industry
Piet's entire life is dedicated to JASA. With trial and error, Piet builds an amazing company. Not only in the Netherlands but also in Germany and America. His daughter Sandra Pannekeet is at the helm of the company on the other side of the ocean. Over time Piet became the best-known packaging director in the Dutch agro-food and produce industry. He is praised for his `act normal that's crazy enough’ mentality (even though he occasionally can have fun acting all weird). Piet has as much perseverance as he is strong-willed; he is also a relentless worker. Over the years, Piet has built up enormous respect among customers, employees, and dealers.
Well-deserved time for hobbies
After putting his heart and soul into the company for 36 years, Piet says goodbye to JASA. He feels confident that he can leave JASA with peace of mind, even with a highlight approaching. The right people are in the right places, and there is a strong team that can serve the customers within the Netherlands. The succession is well organized and proceeding smoothly in all aspects. Piet will undoubtedly continue to regularly show his face at JASA.
After many years of arduous work, Piet now has time again for his hobbies and other activities. One of his big hobbies: fixing up vintage cars. He takes them completely apart, refurbishes everything, and rebuilds it, just like he used to do with PMT machines.
A grand farewell
Piet can be very proud of the wonderful company he founded. It goes without saying that a founder's farewell should be celebrated with a grand party. Unfortunately, this is not possible in these times. That is why we have decided to toast to Piet's farewell on the next virus-free occasion, most likely during the Fruit Logistica 2022 in Berlin, with a drink and lots of customers, dealers, and other loved ones from the field.
