"We want to consolidate ourselves as the main producer of organic green kiwi in Europe"

The kiwi campaign in the Bajo Nalon Valley, Asturias, has already started. The campaign in this region, where the Spanish company Kiwinatur has its farms, will last until May.

“Our plantations are bathed by the longest and mightiest river in Asturias. This location has privileged orographic and climatological conditions for kiwi cultivation, which allows us to obtain fruit with a very good flavor, attractive shape, color, and exquisite texture with a very exquisite soft columella,” stated Alejandro Lechado, the manager of Kiwinatur. "Asturian kiwi production is not very large yet, but it is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years."

"The peculiarity of the area and the way we work, betting on the packaging and innovative presentations, has allowed us to be recognized and to have notoriety within the sector. Kiwinatur has become a benchmark brand both at the national and international levels," he added.

The Asturian company has set itself the goal of reaching 4,000 tons of 100% organic green kiwi by 2025. Currently, the company already has 25 certified hectares of its own and 35 hectares under conversion. In addition, it has already begun to study the incorporation of 40 more hectares to the project, in order to reach 100 hectares of land for the cultivation of organic kiwi in the next 5 years.
