The autonomous republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the northern Caucasus, reports that potatoes have been harvested from half of acreage. Potatoes were dug up from an area of 4,000 hectares, which is about 50% of the area they occupy. The gross harvest, according to operational data, is 82,400 tons, or 108% over the same period in 2019.
The region’s farmers are pleased with the yield; the average yield in the republic is 206 c / ha, or 105% compared to last year. Farmers of the Tersk region harvest most of the potatoes per hectare - about 240 centners. In second place is the Cherek region with a yield of 230 c / ha.
The Baksan and Zolsky districts share the third place in terms of potato yield. Here 20,400 tons of potatoes are dug from one hectare.
