The company Mesfruits is now certified Bee Friendly. Although the label was only obtained recently, Hugo Mestre explains that it is a validation of the actions accomplished by Mesfruits over the years.
“The label is a way to formalize all the efforts made in the orchards. In our profession, we must protect the bees since they are essential to production. As farmers, our role is to preserve them. We have therefore set up various devices such as flower strips, permanent hedges (more or less wild), as well as permanent beehives in collaboration with beekeepers in order to preserve biodiversity.”
In this way, the Bee Friendly label rewards the company’s environmental and quality strategy, as well as its virtuous practices. “Bee Friendly complements our Eco-responsible Orchards certification and our HEV level 3 label,” adds Jean-Charles Allain.
The 2020 harvest of the Mesfruits orchards and those of two other producers will be certified Bee Friendly as early as this year. “The goal is to develop and promote this label in the coming years to our partner producers so that they can also be part of the process.”
