Christine Cortes, BioTropic:

Democratization of the market for exotic lemons in France

Importer-exporter BioTropic will have exotic limes and lemons available next week. Christine Cortes, sales representative of the company, explains that exotic lemons such as the Combawa, Yuzu, Caviar and even Buddha’s hand lemons are a great culinary success.

“The season looks promising. Restaurants are not the only ones interested in these products. Regular customers also want to discover these new culinary flavors. We feel that these products are undergoing a certain democratization. Their supply is growing but it remains a niche market.”

For the exotic lime and lemon season, BioTropic continues to collaborate with the Moroccan producer Terra Citrus. According to Christine, there is a future in this origin. “Morocco, at the gates of Europe, has a lot of organic fruit and vegetables to offer. It is also an interesting origin in terms of carbon impact reduction.”

Exotic limes and lemons will be available in bulk or in trays. Limes will be available in boxes of 4kg and 2kg. The season will finish at the end of September.

In the winter, BioTropic will sell products of the ratatouille range and Moroccan citrus fruit, like the late Nadorcott tangerine. The season will begin mid-November for the vegetables.
