Trops, the Agrarian Transformation Society specialized in the production and marketing of subtropical crops, is offering 350 jobs for the new mango campaign, which will start next September. It is one of the most ambitious calls in the Andalusian fruit and vegetable sector and shows Trops' commitment to generating employment in the region.
The Spanish leader in the export and marketing of avocados and mangoes expects one of the most productive mango campaigns in recent years. The hirings will allow it to double the number of employees and close the year with a significant increase in the workforce. Proof of its commitment to providing stable employment all year round is the fact that 85 temporary contracts were recently changed into permanent ones. The Agrarian Transformation Society hopes to grow by 15% this year.
"Trops will close 2020 with around 1,000 employees, taking into account the hirings and the upcoming opening of two work centers in Motril and Tavira (Portugal)," says Trops General Director Enrique Colilles. "This volume of employment, together with the greater number of permanent contracts, makes a difference in the Andalusian agro-food sector and fuels the commitment of the workers."
Trops is Spain's largest producer of subtropical crops, with a market share of 40% in the case of avocados and of more than 50% in that of mangoes (of domestic production). It currently manages a network of more than 2,800 producers and has collection centers in several places from the Region of Valencia to the Portuguese Algarve, although the bulk of the production is in the Axarquía of Malaga and the Costa Tropical of Granada. Its cooperative structure is increasingly allowing more producers to adapt to the growing international demand; a positive scenario for which "more investments in technology and personnel" are necessary, says Colilles.
