This week, the prices of Spanish citrus have remained stable, with slight variations in the case of oranges and no changes in that of mandarins.
In the Lonja de Córdoba, the price of oranges has rebounded slightly. They have oscillated between the 19-20 cents of the second class Salustiana and the 21-22 cents of the first class.
The second class Lane-late orange has been sold for between 22-26 cents, and the first class for 27-29 cents. Meanwhile, the Navel Powell has cost between 29-33 cents, and the first class Valencia Midknight orange has stood at 39-40 cents per kilo at origin.
The price of oranges intended for the processing industry has also remained stable. Those in the Navel group and the Blanca group have cost between 13 and 14 cents per kilo.
In Córdoba, Tango mandarins were once again sold for between 75 and 90 cents per kilo at origin.
In the Lonja de Valencia, the oranges recorded slight drops in their prices and were sold for between 23 and 42 cents per kilo.
Mandarin prices have remained stable, ranging between 23 cents and 1.20 Euro per kilo at origin.
Other citrus fruits: lemon
In Alicante, the price of Fino lemons has dropped slightly and fluctuated between 38 and 45 cents per kilo, according to the Council of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition of the Region of Valencia.
This downward adjustment in the price at origin is justified by the unusual temperatures that have been recorded up to these days, which have caused an increase in the amount of discards, according to sources from Ailimpo, the Lemon and Grapefruit Interprofessional Association.
Also worth noting is that we are approaching the end of a difficult Fino lemon campaign, to be followed by a Verna lemon campaign that will not be easy either, with 290,000 tons of harvest capacity in Spain and record harvests in Argentina and South Africa, whose campaigns will start earlier than in 2019.
