A new ultra-modern logistics center equipped for the cold chain is being built in Abruzzo, in San Vito Chietino (CH), on the initiative of the Abruzzo-based company Catenaro Italo Srl, and will be operational from May 1, 2020.
"We have created a new refrigeration plant that we will make available for refrigerated storage and goods handling services for all fruit and vegetables, fresh and dry. The multifunctional plant is equipped with a weighing service, an in-and-out handling service and a complete document management with dedicated office". This is what Italo Catenaro, commercial director of the Catenaro Italo Srl, specialized in the production and import-export commercialization of fruit and vegetables, told FreshPlaza.
The multipurpose cells ensure storage and conservation for fresh goods (temperature from -6.0° to 0.0°), fruit and vegetables (from 0.0° to + 8.0°), as well as shell fruits at controlled temperature. Safe control and remote management monitoring of all cold rooms and H24 availability of staff are guaranteed, as well as handling services, active on Saturdays and Sundays too, in order to meet customer needs.
"The new plant - says Italo - equipped with cold rooms and latest generation systems was built by the Frigoveneta company from Verona, in collaboration with the Baraldo Silvano company from the Verona area. The plant consists of 5 cold rooms of 1500 cubic meter, in addition to a refrigerated corridor with sealed loading ramps, plus an emergency ramp for oversized loads. There are also a technical mezzanine for the control of electronic air coolers and ethylene absorbers of the latest generation, as well as machines for regulating humidity in the cell".
The entire surface is completely surrounded by external areas adjacent to the logistics base and by squares distributed over an area of approximately 2,000 m2.
The structure is located in a logistically very favorable and strategic position on the Adriatic ridge, 30 km from Pescara and 30 km from Vasto, equidistant from north and south and only 200 km from Rome (A24). The logistics center is 8 km from the A14 Ortona (from the north) or Lanciano (from the south) motorway exits.
