New Conor logistic facility in Rome

The new Conor platform at Car, Centro agroalimentare di Roma, was officially inaugurated on Friday 13th December 2019. It covers 3,170 square meters on a 6,700 sq m lot, so there is room for the refrigerated warehouse to be expanded. Conor is part of Agribologna group and 80% of the fresh produce is destined to the H&R channel.

Car director Fabio Massimo Pallottini hosted the event. Conor president Stefano Zavoli spoke first:" we have been supplying Rome's main H&R companies and this new platform will enable us to be more efficient and increase quantities."

Agribologna president Lauro Guidi added that "we have not built on the entire lot as it is not necessary yet. We are expecting to grow over the next few years and then we will make the extension. In the meantime, we will set up a 160 Kw photovoltaic plant that will cover 30% of the consumption within the next few months. Agribologna commercializes 185 thousand tons in total and employs 250 people. We are a unique cooperative, as members package the produce directly in the fields so as to make a bigger profit. We are also looking to increase our members in Lazio so as to produce fruit and vegetables nearer the platform."

Both Pallottini and Car president Valter Giammaria praised Agribologna as it is a cooperative that still believes in wholesale markets such as Bologna, Cesena, Padua and Rome.

Many guests attended the event, including producers. In addition to Stefano Zavoli, Lauro Guidi and Fabio Massimo Pallottini, Agribologna director Angelo Parlma, Guidonia Montecelio Mayor Michel Berbet, councilor for economic development for Comune di Roma Carlo Cafarotti, Car president Valter Giammaria and Lega Coop Nazionale president Mauro Lusetti also took part.

"The opening of Conor Roma is of strategic importance and is a testimony of our will to invest on the national territory, personnel and local resources. Being active in Lazio means serving H&R and big retail channels in particular as well as the naval, school and company sector to become a true point of reference," explained Angelo Palma.

For over 50 years, Conor has been committed to distributing fresh produce to the restaurant sector, big retail chains and and import-export channel. This opening in Rome confirms the will to get stronger and expand all over the national and foreign territory. A lot of investments were made to build and update platforms and IT networks to enable the processing of over 3,500 orders a day on a national level in just 24 hours.

The traditional ribbon cutting ceremony

A few months ago, Conor introduced the new mobile order transmission service called Conor Shop. The new app is available to Android and IOS systems and enables clients to access the produce menu and price list, check product availability, assess 'daily' offers and send orders to the nearer facility.

The entrance to the office area

"Car is increasingly becoming a multi-functional logistic hub suitable to meet all kinds of demands. Conor enables us to further increase the services and products offered. We are proud of having made another step further.
