Season begins for the Dibra Mango from West Africa

At SIIM, the main branch of the group Omer-Decugis and a historical leader in the production and export of West-African mangoes, with more than 3 million shipments exported each year from its farms in Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso and Senegal, the first harvests have started and the first fruits are being exported. The season looks particularly promising.

The mango trees were well hydrated during the 2018 rain season and benefited from favorable weather conditions. The first harvested fruits show the signs of a good season in terms of taste. They are packaged under the brand “Dibra”, which guarantees better agricultural, social and environmental practices. The Dibra mango plantations are indeed certified Global GAP, Rainforest Alliance and BSCI.

In recent years, SIIM has developed logistics solutions by setting up a supply chain dedicated to the mango, a unique and fragile product by nature. This logistics chain devoted to the product and built with respect for the work of the producers, wants to guarantee the European consumer a good transportation of the mangoes from producer to consumer.

This allows us to offer cutting-edge logistics today, which meets the expectations of the large European distribution chains and the European consumers,” explains Vincent Omer-Decugis, general director of SIIM. “We can only emphasize the precision, availability and professionalism of the teams in Abidjan and Rungis.”

This year, the first mangoes of the season were exported by plane in order to offer an earlier supply to the consumer. More than 150 tons have already been shipped to Europe this way, which reflects the meticulous logistics organization at SIIM.”
