The association “Cèpe du Périgord” and the Chamber of Agriculture of the department announced their wish to focus on the boletus in order to create a sector and a “Cèpe du Périgord” label, identifiable and capable of attracting tourists to the region. Today, there are 127 participating in the mycotourism program “Cèpes du Périgord vert”. This operation is financed by the European Union through the LEADER program.
For this, the region plans to work on improving the crops in order to obtain better yields. “Myco-forestry still has progress to make,” explains Sandrine Rossignol, host at the Chamber of Agriculture. “Finding favorable elements is an experiment of several years. It requires the maintenance of the forests, and the goal of the approach is to get people to work on these problems.”
