The largest farm in Africa is in Dakhla, situated in the south of Morocco. It is devoted to the cultivation of cherry tomatoes. Its production covers more than 180 hectares and the production is destined for Europe and Russia.
This farm, equipped with sophisticated facilities, is situated in the heart of the desert, 43 miles south of Dakhla, at a place called “Glidat jadiane” (the two goats’ hearts). Its employs more than 500 people and draws its water from a well almost 2,000 feet deep. The cultivation of the cherry tomatoes, before their harvest in Dakhla, usually lasts 5 months.
