Russia: Since 2012, imports of Mexican bananas grown to 7,000 tons

Banana exports from Mexico onto the Russian market over the past five years have grown from 125 tons in 2012 to 7,000 tons in 2017.

According to the main coordinator for international affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture of Mexico, Raul Urteaga, in 2017 the worth of banana exports to Russia reached $10.6 million. Thus, bananas became the main Mexican product supplied to the Russian market. The volume of purchases of bananas exceeded the shipments of beer, tequila and other big Mexican exports.
