Russian Ministry of Agriculture: Fruit storage capacity is 3.2 million tons short

In Russia, the total operational fruit storage capacity at the moment is at 7.8 million tons. There is a capacity deficit of about 3.2 million tons. This was reported by TASS, referring to data of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

According to the head of the Association of Growers, Igor Mukhanin, the total volume of fruit storage facilities has grown significantly. If it could contain only 15% of the harvest 10 years ago, it would be 45-50% today. Fruitnews.ru gives the Novgorod company "Gardens of Staraya Russa" as an example: due to the lack of a storage facilities, it cannot provide year-round delivery of goods and therefore it cannot enter the federal trade networks.
