Italy: Good prices but lower quantities for persimmons

"The Italian persimmon campaign is starting. There have been a lot of drops despite the fact that we've been careful about water resources and nutritional management. Plants are now reacting after heavy storms, but grades are very good," explains an agronomist.

The year is rather peculiar. "I think prices will be excellent because there is not a lot of produce available nor competition from Spain, which was affected by frost in March-April."

As for pomegranates, the agronomist reports that Spain is registering grade problems due to the unfavorable climate conditions. As for Italy, yields seem to be low.
