Sysco’s speciality produce subsidiary FreshPoint has announced that it will double the size of its distribution facility in Orlando, as the company seeks to enhance its delivery service to clients in the foodservice industry.
FreshPoint claims that the expanded facility will increase the size of the facility to 14,000 m2 following the addition of 7,000 m2 to the existing building, and construction should be completed in 2019.
The expanded facility will boast an 1,670 m2 processing and production room for fresh-cut produce, as well as a waste disposal system which converts seeds, skin and other food waste into compost in order to save fuel and energy.
Robert Gordon, president and chief executive officer, FreshPoint said: “FreshPoint is excited about the growth of our Central Florida business and the expansion of our facility in Orlando. We are proud members of our communities and are excited by the opportunities our facility expansion will bring to expand our presence. We look forward to continuing to build relationships with our local partners and serving our customers with the increased capabilities our expanded facility will offer.”
