Netherlands: First Spanish kakis arrive at Hillfresh

Dutch company Hillfresh, dealing in import and export of fruit, vegetables and exotic plants, has signed a deal with Spanish kaki producer Agricola Andalucia. Hillfresh will be the exclusive dealer of the kakis in Europe. The first shipments arrived in Holland this week.

“Agricola Antoluz is the largest private grower of Spanish kakis,” says Pieter de Jong. “The grower has chosen Hillfresh because of its commercial strength and the network of European retailers. We are very pleased with the agreement, and hope for a productive collaboration.”

According to Pieter, the kaki market is fair, and traded volumes are increasing. “We see an increase in the retail sales of kakis in surrounding countries. Holland lags behind a bit, so we hope that with our new packaging and marketing the product will take off here as well. Kakis are very tasty and healthy, my own kids love them!”
