The world's heaviest mango was discovered in Colombia, and Guinness World Records officially confirmed the record.
The remarkable fruit was found at San Martín farm in Guayatá, Boyacá, owned by growers Germán Orlando Novoa Barrera and Reina María Marroquín. They observed that one mango on a tree was growing much faster than the others, quickly tripling in size. Curious, they weighed it, and their daughter, Dabegy, checked whether it was a record-holder.
She discovered that a 2009 mango from the Philippines, weighing 3.435 kilograms, previously held the record. When the Colombian family compared their mango to that one, they realized they might have a new world record. After contacting Guinness and an official inspection, their mango, weighing 4.250 kilograms, with a circumference of 61.5 centimeters and a height of 23 centimeters, was confirmed as the new record.
After removing the mango from the tree for weighing, the family decided to make a mold so they could donate a replica to the local government. They also ate the fruit, which they say was delicious.
