"Export market demand is strong"

"Cambodian mango quality is expected to improve significantly next month"

The Cambodian mango season has started later than usual this year due to frequent rainfall. The new season began in late September and early October and is now entering the main harvest and export phase.

Liaoning Zhongshang International Trade, which is involved in mango cultivation, processing, and export in Cambodia, reported on the current situation. Mr. Zhu Yunquan from the company explained, "Persistent rainfall has slowed down harvesting and caused a high incidence of skin defects, resulting in a lower proportion of marketable fruit. However, we expect that with the arrival of the dry season at the end of this month or in early November, weather conditions will improve, leading to a noticeable enhancement in both the appearance and overall quality of the mangoes." Mr. Zhu added that the recent weather mainly affects the harvest volume and fruit appearance, while sweetness levels remain unaffected.

"Although mango production this season is expected to decline by around 10% to 20%, prices have remained generally stable, which has encouraged customers to continue placing orders," he said.

"Russia remains a key export destination for Cambodia's Keo Romeat mangoes," Mr. Zhu noted. "Local consumers are particularly fond of this variety, especially premium-grade fruit. Orders are already booked through June next year. Due to the rainy season, customers have become more demanding regarding the quality of incoming fruit. We monitor orchards daily and strictly control every stage—from harvesting to post-harvest handling—to ensure that only the best-quality fruit is exported."

The Cambodian mango season typically runs until June of the following year, with the peak export window falling between February and May. Mr. Zhu added, "We expect to export 2,000 to 3,000 tons of Cambodian mangoes this season to markets including Russia, South Korea, and Dubai, depending on weather conditions. To maintain freshness, we are preparing a special logistics channel known as the 'Mango Express,' which ensures faster customs clearance and shorter shipping times."

Mr. Zhu also mentioned that Cambodian mangoes are not being exported to Thailand this year, and some traders have started shipping directly to Malaysia instead.

Liaoning Zhongshang International Trade specializes in Southeast Asian mangoes and dragon fruit, as well as Chinese-grown oranges, grapefruits, kiwifruit, and other produce. The company exports to Russia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
