Kyrgyzstan nearly doubles citrus imports from China in Q1 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, Kyrgyzstan increased citrus imports from China by 92% year-on-year, according to the National Statistical Committee

From January to March, Kyrgyzstan imported 9,494.6 tonnes of citrus fruits from China, valued at $7.12 million. For the same period in 2024, the volume was 4,940.2 tonnes worth $3.5 million.

China is the leading citrus supplier to Kyrgyzstan, followed by:

  • Turkey:

Q1 2025: 2,715.2 tonnes, $1.66 million

Q1 2024: 4,199.1 tonnes, $2.56 million

Imports from Turkey declined by 35% in volume and value.

  • Pakistan: Q1 2025: 1,414.5 tonnes, $1.07 million
  • Iran: Q1 2025: 737.2 tonnes, $412,000
  • Other suppliers include Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 14,619.4 tonnes of citrus fruits worth $10.54 million in Q1 2025, up from 12,848.5 tonnes valued at $8.69 million during the same period in 2024.
