Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to launch “Friendship Garden” to boost horticulture and local jobs

A "Friendship Garden" will be established on 100 hectares of Afghan land in partnership with Uzbekistan. The orchard will feature fruit trees grown using innovative agricultural technologies, according to a report by Podrobno.uz.

The project was agreed upon during a visit to Afghanistan by a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Abduzukhurov. It will involve joint work by agricultural experts from both countries.

The project aims to support the development of intensive horticulture in Afghanistan, boost fruit production capacity, create jobs for local communities, and lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth in the region.

Earlier, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan launched a similar "Friendship Garden" in Dushanbe, where fruit trees from Uzbekistan, adapted to the local climate, are being cultivated.
